OK guys i know what i need to do to adjust my speedo on my 97 F-150 4x4 ORP with the 5.4 engine. But i need to know where on the truck this gear is and what it looks like so i dont mess up my truck. i have been told it was on the tail of the transfer case.

Suggest you get manual.

Think 97-99 same but? VSS located on tranny left side of the extension housing.

Remove elect. wire plug, retaining bolt & pull sensor straight out.

Install new o ring & light coat of engine oil before reinstall. (if you damage o ring it might leak fluid)

Maybe you already fixed?

Thanks for the info. I inspected the o-ring and it looks to be in excellent condition. I now have the gear and will install it when i get my driveshaft back from being balanced. It started vibrating after my gears were installed. i will post again if i have any problems.
