Question

I've heard 200+ degrees starts to be a problem. The Ford dealer told me 170 is normal and over 200 starts to be a problem. As I also tow a TT, I'll be installing a temp gauge soon (it's here just gotta put it in!). I got the Z-series Autometer that registers from 100 - 250; I was talked out of the ISSPRO that registered from 140 - 320 because you're almost at normal temp before it starts to register. If you have the towing package, the trans cooler should help but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Question

What is considered "normal" operating temp for the 4R70W?? My newly installed gage barely gets above 145 F in "normal" driving....and takes FOREVER getting there. I haven't had my boat or camper on a trip yet this Spring so I'm not sure what the additional load will bring it up to. I suspect maybe another 25-30 Degrees F.

I do have a large aftermarket cooler installed so maybe this is why it runs cool. Any thoughts??
