yes, I suggest your local ford dealer... most of those quickie chains that do that don't know enough to raise the vehicle and put it in gear during the flush.. putting it in gear lets the settled fluid in your trannie flush out..

Cool Which chain for tranny flush?

I always stay away from the quickie job chain stores and usually do maintenance work myself or take it to my trusted shop (a friend's dad owns it). But, believing that the recirculatory flush method is better and seeing that all of the shops around here use the drop the pan method, which of the chain stores use the flush method? Around here we have: Jiffy Lube, Precision Tune, Pep Boys and maybe a couple of others.

I would take it to a dealer, too, but to tell you the truth, I didn't know to put it in gear when you flush it. Who'd of thunk it?

My Wife has a 97 T-Bird, 4.6L
Her trans has been shuttering SO BAD for the last few months. I've been telling her to Baby it until we can trade the car in.
She came home last Friday and said, Now it is shuttering thru all gears. SOMETHING I DIDN'T NEED TO HEAR! So I took it to Ford Sat morning and played STUPID. Said I have this slight shuttering at lockup and would a flush take care of it. The Tech said he thought it might, so $100.00 later it runs like a new car. It was a BG system flush & fill. Best $100.00 I've spent in a long time.
Piece of Crap T-Bird is still going to be owned by someone else real soon. I will now sell it retail, instead of taking the pipe on a trade-in.

I just had mine chnaged Monday. I took it to the ford dealer. $180 after tax for flush of converter, tranny, and filter and seal change. They even washed the truck when they were done. It took 1 1/2 hours. I have the superchip and a k&n intake. I can't even feal it shift now.

I just got my fluid flushed. I got it done at a Ford dealer (where I bought my truck, and where my dad works), so I got it for $60US (or $90CDN). I could go to a quick-lube place for $40US (or $60CDN).

The tech told me since it's the first fluid change (30K miles), a flush would be fine. He said for the second fluid change, they should do the whole thing - drop the pan, change the filter, flush the fluid. I have no reason to argue with that.

Thumbs up

I used a "quickie lube " joint to do the tranny in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Never again. They took 45-1 hour minutes longer because they couldn't figure out how to open the fitting that Jeep has and ended up screwing it up. They did try to fix it but I'm not comfortable that the next flush (the new owner will do) won't come without a fitting replacement.
