anyone changed to a performance torque converter
I read in a truckin magazine where they installed a protorque converter on a f150. They said that the one they installed knocked .5 seconds off theyre quarter mile time. They said that it improves the efficiency of the transmission to give you more low end torque. I basically just wanted to know how much it costs, how hard it is to install, and could they tell a big difference.
I sent my transmission to Art Carr for a Performance rebuild. New racing clutch pacs, one piece input shaft, a reworked body and a 2400 stall torque converter. It has made a huge difference in my truck and I am sure it is quicker in the 1/4 than before. I believe my stall converter was around $750 and the performance rebuild was around $2000. I am planing on changing to a stroked 4.6L down the road and I did not want to worry about the transmission. This one is bullet proof!
