Neal - Additional Cooler
Neal or anyone, I have been corresponding with Mike from Superchips and he suggested that I talk to you about how you installed an additional transmission cooler besides the factory one. Can you tell me where you installed it, how, and any other information you can give me? I noticed that you installed a 14"/10" Perma Cool with 10" electric fan.

HI!... DJBOGUE : Yes, I installed a PERMA-COOL 10.5 X 14 inch 5/8THED tubed tranny cooler. PART #PRM-3311. I also installed a SUMMIT RACING 10 INCH electric fan to that tranny cooler. PART #SUM-G4910.I removed the factory "STACKED PLATE" cooler. It was too small for my tastes and was mounted directly behind the front bumper on my truck. No air flow got to it so it was pretty much useless. I mounted my PERMA-COOL cooler directly in front of the condenser, right behind the grill on the driver's side. I used two brakets that I had left over from another project to mount the cooler. I bolted the brackets to the cooler using the holes provided and used stainless steel bolts, washers and poly nuts. I then screwed the brackets to the sheet metal frame that runs from the P,S to D,S underneeth the underhood plastic cowl. I then fabricated a 1 inch wide aluminum bracket that runs from the bottom of the cooler to one of the bolts that also holds the power steering cooler on. I wired the electric fan to a manual switch mounted in my AUTOMETER guage pod which houses my tranny temp guage. All tranny lines running from the tranny to the coolers are all AN-6 stainless steel braided with RUSSELL fittings. In the SPRING I am also going to be installing a similar cooler as a engine oil cooler on the passenger side, opposite of the tranny cooler. There will be NO fan on this cooler. This will be done with a OIL SANDWICH ADAPTER from SUMMIT RACING PART #TRD-1313. All oil cooler lines will also be AN-6 SS braided with RUSSELL fittings. Hope this helps you out.

HI!... DJBOGUE : You don't have to, but I would while your at it. I had to because I installed my BAUMANN ENGINEERING shift kit at the same time. If you decide to change your tranny fluid, then don't forget to drain your torque converter also. Make sure you splice youe AUX tranny cooler in AFTER the lines coming from the factory one built into the radiator. If you decide to use a tranny temp guage, then make sure you install the MECHANICAL sensor in the lines before it goes into ANY of the coolers. Hope this helps you out.
