Thumbs up Transmission Control Indicator Light (TCIL)

Why has my TCIL all-of-a sudden started blinking? I dont notice anything wrong with my automatic transmission. It shifts through all the gears with no problem. Can anyone help?

If your talking about the OD light on the stalk, when blinking this is a MIL(malfunction indicator light). It means your computer has detected a problem in the trans and has stored a code. Sorry but it also means a trip to the dealer for you. Good luck.

I too am having the OFF light blink at me. I went this morning to a dealer next to work and was told that they were backed up for 3 weeks.. I informed him that I could not be without my truck for 3 weeks and left.. Called around town and will be dropping it off on Monday to get it looked at.. Sure hope my "Baby" is ok.. I have not notice a problem with shifting but keep getting the OFF light blinking at me. Hopefully nothing to much wrong and they can fix it up really fast on Monday.. .

Just got the work from the Dealer. By what I got, the problem is a "piston ring" in the Transmission causing the computer to think that it is slipping. They are going to change the part under warranty and I should have my "Baby" back this afternoon. They did recommend flushing (using a machine and taking all the transmission fluid out of the truck, putting in a cleaner and then putting back new transmission fluid) the Transmission due to dirty fluid. They wanted $140 to do this. I think I will look around for a better deal or can I do it myself? If I can do it myself, then what is the best way to do it.. Don't I have to get all the transmission fluid out including in the torque converter?

Thanks for the information. I personally would be hesitant to change flush my own transmission, I would have it done professionally.

Looks like Grease Monkey is the deal here in San Antonio.. 59.99 for a transmission flush. Possibly going to do it this weekend.
