Clutch problem
Well my truck went back in for a slave cylinder a couple of weeks ago. When I got it back, it seemed much better. Alas, it was not to be. 8 days later, the same problem. This is getting very frustrating. I guess its time to make another phone call. mike150: Its been a while bro. Hows your truck holding up???

The only problem I encountered with my clutch (97 SC XLT 4x4) and my present truck was/is slippage. The clutch slips under strain. The tranny in my 97 was replaced for a wining noise and next my 00 gets a new one. The problem with it was grinding down-shifting into 1st and also when up-shifting into 2nd and 4th.
Here is my theory on the high low pedal. Ford for longevity purposes uses a thick disk and a self adjusting pressure plate. This adjuster tries to self adjust every time you press the pedal. It can not adjust until it clicks into a notch. Your pedal gets high until the adjuster clicks and sends the friction point of your pedal back down on the stroke.

Sorry to hear problem is back, but I think my problem is back also and I have had both clutch master cylinder replaced and the slave cylinder, am going to bleed system today and see if it just accumulated air from them replacing everything. The problem doesn't seem as bad as before the pedal just seems to be spongey.Have a little play at top half way down seems spongey then disengages clutch. as tranny gets hot gets a little worse but not all the way to the floor as last time. just isn't quit right.Keep me informed if you find out anything new and i'll let you know if I find anything.Btw Good to hear from you again maybe somehow we can get this straightend out.

Well....just got off the phone with Ford. They told me that they could noy find anything wrong. Can you believe that? I went bulls**t. I found another 5-speed on the lot and asked him to try that one. Of course the clutch disengaged about 3/4 from the top. Then asked him to try mine, and when it caught about 1/4 from the bottom, he said that was "normal"...GRRRRRRR....Then I said if that was normal...why did you fix it the first 2 times. He gave me some SOP ****. This really sucks. My old '78 was 5 times as slick as this one. What gives here guys???? Im not sure what to do now??? Any comments???
