Thumbs down warrenty problems

I have a fully loaded 98 F158 5.4 ltr auto 4 wheel abs etc. at 16,000 miles the tranny and torque convertor blew up . All miles where highway miles with no towing. The dealer fixed it and gave me a 12 month 12,000 mile warrenty. 16.000 + 12,000 = 28,000. The original warrenty was 36,000 miles, so I lost 8,000 miles. I then called Chevy they said if the replaced the tranny they will warrenty it for 3 years or 5o,ooo miles. It sounds like I will have to change my allegience from one to the other.

I don't think they reduce your total vehicle coverage to the standard replacement part warranty. If you bought it new they can't legally reduce it. My tranny was replaced at 5,200 miles and I still have 3yr/36K coverage.

Your original warranty, or the trans. replacement warranty, whichever is longer, is what you go by. Don't let some dealer mess around with you on something as clear cut as that.

You still have the 3/36 plus proof of a pre-existing problem so relax.
