Guys my truck did the same thing on shuddering in town driving. I eventually had to have the torque converter replaced. I tried filter changes and everything. They rebuilt mine and once in a blue moon the problem still comes back but not as bad as it was before it went belly up. Don't know what to tell you. Mine was a 1993 F150 300 inline six.
