Converter Lock-up Strategy
Can someone bring me up to date on the strategy used by the EEC to lock and unlock the torque coverter in the E4OD? Just when I think I've got it figured out it does something different. When I accelerate through the gears at a very gentle rate I can see the tach drop about 200 rpm at about 1800 rpm in 3rd gear. It then continues to climb until about 2000 rpm when the shift to OD occurs. Does that 200 rpm drop indicate that converter lock-up has taken place?

The pattern is this 1,2,3,lock-up,4th. If you select for no o.d, you'll get 1,2,3,lock-up. I had a 94 F-150 wityh the E4OD, and I liked it. Never a problem w 117Kmi. To answer the original question though, yes, it is the torque conv. that is giving you that little nudge..... Hope this helps..
