Question which trans is in my truck.....?

this may seem like a stupid question, but anyways, Ford put either the E40D or another tranny in F-150 in '97 correct. If so where should I look to find out?
Thanks ahead of time Jason

'97 150 4.6l auto, 4x4, K&N fipk, superchip and Gibson cat back on the way, CAN'T WAIT!!

all F150's are E40D (electronic 4 speed w/ over-drive). Unless its a 5 speed manual. I'm pretty sure they used the same transmission from the 92-96 F-series also.

No you have the 4r70W.
97-98 E4OD in 5.4s
97-97 4r70w in 4.2 and 4.6
99-00 4r70w in all.

4R70W is correct. I have the same setup with 4wheel drive. The 4R70W has a flat dipstick while the E40D has a cable type.
