When you take the plate off the valve body, you "dump" everything out so you can clean it and drill the 2 .093 holes. The "original" check ***** are re-used and put in all stock locations except one- the directions clearly say leave this check ball out. It will be "replaced" by an orifice and spring.

Yeah, I went for the drain plug too. After this time, I won't have ATF all over the place!! Thanks to all that responded, it looks pretty straight forward and easy to do.

You're welcome. Make sure you leave enough time to complete the whole job. Due to some starts and stops, mine was 12 hours clock time.

WLF,
I was going to do it last weekend but the damn drainplug didn't come in, guess they were back-ordered or something. I didn't want to pull the pan again just for the drainplug. Anyway, I just got it today so I'll try and do it this weekend (hope nothing comes up) I figure to leave a whole day free to do this install. I really appreciate the tips you gave, I feel real confidient doing it now!!

Let us know how it goes after the install. I see you decided to get a new drain plug. I have always reused mine but they may be different now. Mine is a 97.

I have about 350 miles on my Transgo install.

Does anyone hear any "different" noises from the transmission after the install versus before?

I swear that as I shift out of gear into park or neutral that is sounds as if the transmission is "releasing" some pressure.

I haven't put it back on stands and listened from underneath yet and it shifts like gangbusters (1-2 hard at anything above 1/8 throttle, 2-3 firm, etc.) and it seems to hold gears better than before the shift, so I don't feel that anything is wrong, just "different" - and I like to be able to explain that to myself at least.

I didn't really notice any new noises (besides the tires chirping to second). Then again I almost always have the stereo cranked way up.

The only noise I noticed afterwards was the belt squeeling, and that was only at higher RPMs on the 1-2 shift.

I'm just trying to figure out if all is normal, or if I've screwed something up. I've gone over it in my head a bazillion times and I can't think of anything that I could have done wrong.

How did everyone check their trans fluid level? I followed the TransGo method of checking it just after the engine is shut off with a quick "dip and check" look. My level was right in the middle of the hatch marks. If I let the truck sit for a while (like while getting gas) and check the dipstick then, its over the full mark.

Just want to make sure I haven't over filled it.

I know what the instructions say but check it like Ford tells you to. Warmed up on level ground, in park, engine running.

Does the Trans-Go kit have some type of modification to the O/D?? Did you guys do the O/D modification? I have read a little about this being an option in the kit in other posts but don't know alot about it. Just wondering if you saw it in your kits??

Y2kXLTSport...I seem to remember reading in other posts around here about different noises with the Trans-Go kit. Seems like some people get it and some don't. Do a search and see if you can find more. Don't remember where it was at but I do remember seeing something about that. I don't think anyone said it was a big deal though.

THanks, I've gone back and re-checked using this method. Trans was a little low on fluid!

Let us know if that corrects the noise you were hearing.
