Lightbulb Over Drive switch

Hi this is a great forum for F150 owners. I just bought a 97 ' f150 s/c lwb 4x4. 4.6L auto trans. 47k miles

My question is I hear it is best to keep the overdrive off for around town driving. I always forget to do it though. Is there a way to switch the switch wiring so it is always in the off position so you must push the button to turn the overdrive in the on position. It seems like a better way to go?

Thanks in advance for any information on this subject.

The only time you need to turn the OD off is when you're towing a heavy trailer, and depending on the road conditions not always then. Running empty just leave the OD in the normal "on" mode, you'll get better mileage and it won't hurt a thing.

Darren,

I asked about this same thing several months ago. Apparently, there is no easy way to do what you ask. Someone mentioned that they believed there was something that could be purchased, but I was never able to find it.
