Post Auto Tranny Question

Have 1999 regular cab 4x4 with 4.6 and auto tranny. Have noticed a "slip & grab" that occurs around 20 to 30 mph when you let off the gas and then get back on it, like when you turn a corner. Is this normal? Is this the "shudder" I’ve been reading about?. Truck has only 2,500 miles on it. Have’t had an automatic in a long time. Hate to go back to the dealer to be told this is normal.

Thanks for the help

The BassDean

It sounds like that same "shudder" everyone else is talking abut including myself. I have been told it is normal but it doesn't feel right at all. Do you have the limited slip rear end?

Thanks for the info. Your right, it just doesn't feel quite right. Mine does not have the limited slip dif. It has the std w/ 3.55 gear, 16" wheels, and p255/75 tires..

I've got it too. I was wondering if a shift improver might help ? Steeda was trying to sell me one of theirs for $300..You can get those for alot cheaper can't you ??

dondo7.. I installed a b&m shift plus. shifts were firmer but it didn't change were the shifts took place. I also blew a seal that resulted in a $1200 rebuild. The shift kit may have increased line pressure and contributed to the blow up. (new seals, forward clutches, overdrive bands)

This sounds like the converter locking and unlocking. This is normal.
