PA valvebody is here!

I got the PA valvebody today. it came with springs for the 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator as well. the only problem is it did not come with spacers fot the newer 1-2 accumulator style. so i am going to try to get some washers to space it like the Baumann kit has. the VB looks like it is really good quality. i am going out of town this weekend so it may be awhile before i get it installed but i will let you all know how it goes. i think as long as i can find the right spacing washers there should be no problems. i guess if i cant find the right washers i could leave the accumulatoers alone... but... im going to try to get them. Im not sure why they werent included because the VB is for trannys after 96 and they changed the 1-2 accumulator in 97. anyway. it came with a spring for the 2-3 too which is nice. the baumann didnt have that. i also ordered the deep aluminum trans pan. it is nice, but i dont know where i can put the circular magnet now. i guess i will just leave it out? ill try to post pics sometime later this week.

Put a little dab of JB Weld on the magnet and place it around the drain plug.

thanks factrory tech, i will definately do that. I was also wondering if it is necessary to get the 4x4 filter. i just got a new one so i would rather not get another. I dont think the new pan is much bigger than my factory one. i think the current filter will work fine. but i was just wondering. Also, the Valvebody is for an AODE. 1996 and up. I was told that it works for all 4r70w trannys too. It looks exactly the same as my current VB. I just wanted to verify that it will work properly. also, is there any tricks to switching the selinoids over to the new VB? do you just unbolt them and bolt them up to the new VB, or do they have to be lined up. The only dissapointment i have with PA is that there was practically no instructions with the kit. I dont think i will have any problems because i did the baumann kit before and i still have the instructions. but if i didnt i would have no clue. i think i will probably put the VB in next week sometime. ill let you guys know how it goes. thanks for the help factory tech.

The last year the AODE was produced was 1995. It was completely replaced by the 4R70W.

Just a small caveat for ya 2000F150HD. If the accumulator springs did'nt come with any spacers it might be because the springs are calibrated to work properly without any spacers.

Maybe a phone call to the PA people is in order to verify that fact before you add washers.

Good luck.

Mark-
The 4R70W is a newer version of the AODE it uses the same Valvebody. and is somewhat the same, just really revised, mostly internally. i dont know much about this, and i am not going to pretend to. but i do know that they use the same VB. and about the springs. i checked them according to the stock top spring that i have from a previous shift kit install..... and the spring is too short. i think i can find the right spacers for the spring though. The only other thing i am wondering now is about removing and replacing the selinoids. but i was told that it should be really easy. now all i ahve to do is find the spacers then find some time to put it in. hopefully next week.

I wouldn't say it's a "newer version" of the AODE considering the AODE was made from 92-95 and the 4R70W started production in 93. The only differences in the two trannies is the gearset, 4R uses a better output shaft material and a larger outside diameter slip yolk which requires a different extension housing. Towncar, Grand Marquis, CrownVic and 94-95 Mustang were the only vehicles that came with AODE's factory.

Factory_Tech. Your reply to 2000 harley about the factory round magnet that goes in the tranny pan was to install the round magnet around the drain plug. He said that he had a deepened alum pan. I would guess that it is the B&M deep pan. It has two round supports that stick up from the floor of the pan. I just did the Transgo Valve body kit with the B&M pan. What about putting the donut magnet around one of those supports since the B&M has a magnified drain plug?

I am thinking about either a PA valvebody or TransGo, tell us how the PA is. I want to do it right the first time.

Beastie,...i put the Transgo in this past Wednesday nite. Five hours spent raising truck, draining the fluid ( t.c. & trans & lines), removing the V.B., cleaning and swapping parts, drilling, etc. Finished the next am by doing the accumalator springs & installing the valve body plus the B&M pan. 15 quarts later drove her away. Big improvement but no chirp. Cleaned the corrosion on the neg. post & then test drove the truck again. WOW! was able to bark, chirp, break em loose, whatever ! Definately worth the $$$ for this mod. She slams when you are into it and smooth when you OLD LADY it.

Well Boss Lariat, I dont mind telling you that I'm just a little jealous of you. I did the Transgo kit and used the second setting and still cant get a chirp out of the tires. The shifting is greatly improved but still no chirp on the 1-2 shift.

Maybe after the microtuner I'll get that little sqeal of protest from the rear tires? Good job on the install, glad you're happy with it.

Good luck.

BTW, nice truck ......... it sure does look familiar.

Wo man. If you went level 2 with the transgo, you are really going to get some HARD tire chirping shifts. The light thottle shifts might actually be too tough. Mike said that 80% of the people with a chip and transgo kit on lvl 1 will ge ta nice chirp. He said with a chip and transgo on lvl 2 it will be harsh shifts. But maybe since you have the microtuner, you can tune down the shift firmness, I just dont know how much you can tune them. Good luck
