What to do with this damned 5-speed???

Question What to do with this damned 5-speed???

Sorry guys, but I LOVE my truck, and have decided I want to keep it, rather than trade as I have with my last 3 trucks. I have too much time / money in this one to get it the way I want it so I'd like to get this taken care of instead.

2001 F-150 5-speed with 25,000 mi.

Here's what it does: While running, from neutral, I press in the clutch, and it takes 4 secs. to go into any gear. Once in a gear, it is fine between any other gear unless I let the clutch out, then it will do it again. While not running it will shift into any gear with ease. Is this normal?

When I let the clutch out from a shift between 2,500 & 3,000 RPM's or less, no matter how slowly, it'll jerk like I just popped my foot off it and gave it no time to engage.

Occasional GRIND from 1 - 2 and 2 - 3, really jerky, and "poppy".

I took it to the dealer about 3 months ago, and they said it was fine, and to give it more gas before letting the clutch out all the way. Basically to ride the clutch a little I guess.

It really gets frusterating when everyone in the damned truck is getting jerked forward and backward while shifting, no matter how careful I am. How can I get this fixed? Thanks guys!!!

I'd just like to tear the b!tch out so they'd have to replace it, but I'm sure they'd find a way around it. I'm afraid what it looks like inside of there with all the grinding it's done. Sat. I finally had enough and dropped it down in 2nd. from about 45 mph....the rear wheels locked up. BWAHAHAHA!!! That'll show it.

Jackel,

First test drive another truck with the same running gear to make sure you actually do have a problem, then take it back to the dealer or to another dealer and make them fix it...if its not the same as when you bought it, its broke.......keep on them...they will do the right thing when they are forced to.

Well, come to think of it, when I got it off the lot, it was brand new, and had a clutch problem then. They took it for a test drive before even letting me take it, but they said to get back with them if it continued. They didn't know what the problem was. When I finally got to drive it, it felt like the clutch wasn't working at all. I drove it back to the lot, and popped the fluid reservoir, hot fluid went EVERYWHERE!!! It had been somehow overfilled. I still don't understand it because you can only put so much in the res. That took care of it and has "fine", since.
