Brown fluid = problem?

Sorry guys, but this one is for my wife's Villager minivan. We do occaisionally pull a 1500lb boat and trailer. Van is rated for 3500.

If the tranny fluid is brown with a tinge of pink, but the tranny is functioning perfectly with 25,000 mi, how likely is it that I will have tranny problems in the next 75,000 mi? Mercon fluid was in it and I replaced it with Mobil 1 Mercon ATF.

I will be installing a tranny cooler shortly and changing the fluid annually now.

My transmission guy told me that brown transmission fluid is fluid that is broken down, more than likely caused by excessive heat. He also suggested changing the fluid every 30,000 miles. Whether or not he is right, who knows? Just thought I would throw in my .02
