Tranny in Storage

Hi Tranny Guys,
Quick question on fluid replacement.
1997 rig in storage for 5 years, very low miles. I want to change tranny oil and filter along with engine oil when I pick it up in September. Since this only does partial trans fluid replacement, should I just run this rig for awhile and then do it again?
Thanks as always for the help.
Mike

drain the tourge converter...

also then run it a week or so and drain it again then go to your routein mantenance schedule..i would drive it easy for the first couple of weeks to allow breakin again...you didnt say anything about the rear end fluid...i,d change everything that can drip out....moisture is a funny animal...and i see your from washington state and we all know there,s plenty of it up there

Seapig,
If you drain the torque converter and drop the pan with a new filter, then you will have changed almost all of the trans fluid and won't have to worry about changing it again untill service is due. Put a trans drain plug in to help with future changes.
Also consider using synthetics everywhere in your ride. Quality synthetics can help penetrate and condition seals that have been sitting for a long time.
Man, like having a new 1997..... Must be nice.

BTW, thanks for the very nice complement by e-mail.
