Arrow Changing trans fluid for dummies

I've decided, after doing some reading, that it's time to change the fluid on my truck(only had it a week and a half lol).

Can anyone give me a step-by-step direction on how to do this(THE RIGHT WAY), from draining the fluid all the way to putting in new and starting the truck up?

I'd also like to know what will be needed, I assume fluid, filter, and gasket correct?

What kind of fluid you would recommend too, such as synthetic/non-synthetic.

Thanks.

Here is a procedure to change the transmission fluid. It was written for the E4OD/4R100, and you have a 4R70W. About the only difference is that you need to use a fluid that has a MERCON V rating. A fluid with MERCON and MERCON V ratings is fine, too.

Here's what I did with my 4R70W:

or read it here:

It's not that hard, just a bit messy.

Besides dumping the fluid in the pan, I also drained the torque converter too.
Refilled the system with 14 QTS of Mobil Synthetic Trans. fluid.
Cost me 45.00 just in fluid.
I poured in 8 qts prior to restarting and another 4 after running for a minute or two then checked the level.
Was it worth it?
Depends.
It does seem to shift better, firmer. Only time and towing will tell.
