Transmission Service Question
I have a '99 Expy with the 5.4L and 4R100 transmission. The truck has 30,000 miles on it and it is time for a transmission service. Should I do the standard fill/drain of the pan and torque converter or should I go with the full flush? I tow a 4,000 lb boat with the Expy during the summer, mainly around town but twice a year over a 4,000 foot high mountain range.
What are people's thoughts on fill/drain verses full flush?
Thanks for your input.

Just a drain and fill would get all but 1-2 qts out of the tranny. Basicly good enough. If you feel like doing it yourself and change the filter go for it. If it seems like to much for you then have a shop do the flush.
There isn't a lot of difference between draining the pan and torque converter and doing a flush. The flush will change a bit more of the fluid.
If you want a DIY flush procedure, look here:

I want to add a 'shift-kit' at the time the teans service is performed. I don't want it to 'slam' the shifts, but I would like them to be 'firmed' up a bit.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
