something amiss???

Lately I have been feeling a miss when driving, actually more like a studder or something. Happens generally while doing about 45-50 mph/ 1600 rpm and uphill before the trans kicks down. It will kind of buck a couple times then eventually shifts.

Thought it could be engine but im not seing the flux in rpm so im thinking maybe tranmission? Granted I have alot of miles on my rig but it seems weird. Any takers???

I know exactly what you are talking about. I am dealing with the same thing. At 40-45 and 1100-1500 RPM I get a nice little shudder/jerk feeling, this only happens on slight inclines or very light acceleration and it seems to be right before the transmission should shift. Are you in OD when this happens like I am? I have also felt the same problem when on the interstate traveling about 70 mph at 2000 RPM and again on an incline or steady throttle accel.
I had a similar problem once before with a shudder/jerk/miss kinda feel before with lower RPMS and it steadily got worse and threw a code. That time it was plug wires arcing. How long has it been since you checked/changed the wires and maybe the plugs? I only had about 24K on that set (aftermarket wires) before they were junk. Put on Accel wires and coil packs and she ran great up until about 2 months ago.
This time it feels more like a tranny problem to me but I had one Ford tech to say it felt like a dead spot (miss) in the engine just at that one spot. I have had my tranny flushed and a shudder fix added to no avail.
Let me know if you find anything out. I myself might try to change the plugs and recheck the new wires. From there I might have AAMCO do their free diagnostic on it. I also plan to have the professional fuel injection service done at a dealer.

How many miles has it been since you changed the transmission fluid? If it is more than 20,000 miles, that could be the problem.

Get a complete fluid change, including the torque converter. Use MERCON V fluid. New ATF almost always cures the shudder you are experiencing.

It's only been about 15,000 miles since the tranny fuliud was done and just put new lugs in about two weeks ago. Wires are still in real good shape but I could be getting a bad ground I guess. I'm thinking it's the tranny too just because I don't see the studder on my tach. i'm going to take it in this weekend I think and have it flushed good. i also thought it could be a coil, but like the engine, it doesn't make sense to get problem only at one speed.

I feel if it was a dead spot in the mtor, then when ever it hits rpm range I would feel it you think? Just guessing. Yeah by the way I love my truck just get awful mileage at 14.7. Compared to my wifes van anyways.

Thanks for the help I'll keep you posted
