What gear?

I have a set of 35" XTerrains and was stuck in the mud last week and could not get the front to spin the tires. I'm wondering if my gear is not right for my tire and lift combo, or if the t case took a crap on me. Running a 4.10 gear. It would spin my 33's with no problem. Do you think its combined weight and RPM's too low to not let the front spin? Oh yea, you feel real stupid when the little jeeps run circles around you when you are helpless in the deep mud. Well, at least they were kind enough to pull me out onto the street.

Were your rear tires spinning? If they were then you have a problem in the 4X4 driveline. Something in the Xfer case? Something in the solenoids(?) that lock the front diff in gear?

You didn't mention whether you were in low or high range and whether you have the Xfer case lever or switch on the dash. A little more info will help the folks on the board troubleshoot this for you.

Sorry, I was in 4hi and tried 4lo. I have the switch activated 4x4. My rear tires were spining. My case would engage before I had the lift installed, now I have no power to the front wheels. If its not locking the front how can I tell?

Team Trent, I don't want to sound stupid or anything but, you have 4:10 gears, we know that, but did you install them in both the front or just the rear? If you just installed them in the rear then your back tires will spin but your front tires won't due to the gear difference's, but if you have them both in the front and rear then it sounds like you have a transfer case problem. It almost sound's like you weren't engage into 4by4. Your 4by4 light did come on when you were in the mud right??
I had a 93 Ford Short bed 4by that had a plug that went into the transfer case that got pullled out which kept it from engaging into four wheel drive, I plug it back in and had no more worries about it. 35's shouldn't put that much of a tax on your T-case to keep it from spinning the rear and front tires. {if you have 4:10s in the front and rear} If you do have 4:10s in the front and rear and the front aren't spinning get the front end/transfer case looked at. Hope this help's.
