Thumbs up Shift kit fially in !

After having layed around my basement for 6 months I finally got the transgo kit installed in my truck. I chose the hotrod with stock torque converter setting and wound up drilling 4 holes in the separator plate and the 2 little holes in the valve body. I am mostly happy the results.

I'm happy because the shifts are firm and quick as compared to stock. I can definetly tell the difference by feel of the shifts in all gears, especially the 3-4 shift which was the sloppiest by far.

But I'm disappointed because my juvenile mentality was really hoping to get that crisp little chirp of the tires between the 1-2 shift but it did'nt happen that way. I guess my little 4.6 can't make enuff tourqe LOL.

Despite not being able to get a chirp on the upshift I'm really satisfied with the results otherwise and would recomend the transgo kit to anyone considering it. Drivability is greatly improved and the shifts at part throttle are not harsh at all, just firm. And, the icing on this cake is that I've prolly improved the longevity of my tranny to boot !

I do have a couple of questions for you all though. My trans uses mercon and I refilled it with 13.5 qts. of Mobil one synthetic ATF after draining both the pan and trq converter. Should I add the friction modifier to the fluid too ??

Also, I was going to install a trans cooler but the fasteners that I have are supposed to go through the condeser coil for the AC and and mount the trans cooler flush against it. I could'nt bring myself to use that setup and opted to mount it on the frame around the radiator instead. Only problem is that I can't support it by both the top and bottom mounting flanges that way, it's either one or the other.

Any suggestions are readily welcomed and thanx for reading thru this long post.

If yours calls for Mercon you're OK. Mobil 1 meets the specs.

I've found that after a while mine got a little crisper and when the temp outside is warmer, it's even crisper. WOT shifts aren't what I expected but yet normal *firm* around town part throttle driving can be quite "snappy".

Thank you all for your feed back so far but I really need to know:

Do I need to add friction modifier to the Mobil 1 ATF in the trans ??

How can I mount my B&M stacked plate trans cooler without sticking those fasteners through my AC condenser coil ??

Thanx in advance.
