Red face Synthetic yes...but what kind?

Hi all,

Here is the deal, my truck has just over 40K on it and the tranny has never been serviced (shame on me) so I am taking it into the Ford dealer to have him: Drop the pan, change the filter, do the flush service, and (depending on all your suggestions) have him install my shift kit. I have learned lots from all of you, because they told me they didn't need to drop the pan, but I told them that the filter change was NOT an option, because this was the tranny's first service, and they agreed. I fully trust this dealership, they do good work, so I am not worried about getting ripped off. My question is, I will bring the tranny fluid to the dealer myself, and I have decided on synthtic, but WHAT KIND? Any suggestions are welcome...also, do you think it is wise to have the dealer do the shift kit? My thinking is that since I know I want them to do the flush and drain, I might as well have them put the kit in while they're under there. Any thoughts? Thanks and sorry for the long post!

Chris

I use AMSOIL ATF. Have been for over 4 years on all my vehicles. Just changed out the tranny on our '02 Expedition and noticed a small improvement in how it shifted because it flows better than the OEM stuff.
