Angry Auto Transmition dead at 2500 miles!

My 2002 F150 5.4 4x4 is one month old and has 2500 miles on it.
While on my way to work this morning I noticed it wouldn't shift into O/D. The O/D light was flashing.
I drove right to the dealership and after about 4 hours they tell me I need a new Tranny!
What's up with that! My tranny must have been built on a Friday at 5PM.
I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
This is my first Truck and Ford vehicle.

Thanks
Brian

It's a machine and things will break. I'm sure it's like a punch in the gut on a new truck though. Sorry to hear about it.

Keep in mind there are a LOT of them out there with 0 problems. Mine's one of them!

Good luck and have faith in Ford and your dealer, at least until the dealer screws up. (just kidding)

Make SURE you get a brand new trans!!! I just got a "Ford" overhauled unit and I feel it is not up to par. It shudders at certain speeds, looks like a very used corroded trans and has a baked on dirt layer! It may last and it shifts well, however the truck has all sorts of new noises and vibrations. It just feels older!
