machanic question on 30k tranny flush
I saved over 350 bucks by taking my '99 f150 4x4 to Goodyear for my 30k maintence inspection. Had my own mobil 1 tri senthetic and K&N air filter and they changed the fuel filter and rotated the tires and it came to 97 bucks. They told me my tranny fluid was fine. Ok, I still may get it flushed along with the torque converter but if they at goodyear said my tranny fluid was ok, then how does one come to that conclusion?? Naturally I don't want to cut any corners what so ever and I do know that taking it to those other than a ford dealer we do have the chance of that right off the bat unless we know the machanics well. How serious is having it flushed besides the manual telling us to? Just needing some honest advice and or precautions. Thanks. doc.
It is very important to the life of the transmission to flush it regularly. Even though it may not look bad, many of the detergents in the fluid may be broken down. I try to change mine about every 25k miles.
