Clutch chatter.

I've noticed that my clutch makes a chattering sound when I upshift to a higher gear at low rpm's. Usually when I shift from 4th to 5th, and give it a little gas, I hear chattering coming from the area where the clutch is at. I also thought it might be the valves rattling when the engine bogs at low rpm's, but I usually downshift when this happens. At about 45mph, I shift from 4th to 5th. This is the speed that I hear the chattering the worst. Am I doing something wrong? What could be the problem?

WOLVERINE,

Possible Source(s):
§ Loose or worn engine mount.
§ Oil on clutch disc facing.
§ Clutch pressure plate damaged or excessive runout.
§ Clutch disc facing surface hardened or damaged.
§ Flywheel surface glazed or damaged.
§ Transmission input shaft eccentric or not perpendicular.

Regards

Jean Marc Chartier

HE,HE THE NOISE STOPPED AND EVERYTHING IS RUNNIN' SILKY SMOOTH. IT WAS BAD GAS MAKING A PINGING NOISE WHEN THE ENGINE WAS UNDER A LOAD. I DON'T THINK THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. AFTERALL IT IS A 2001, AND I DRIVE IT LIKE AN OLD MAN, AND I DON'T RACE. WELL, I DON'T RACE MUCH. DON'T MENTION THE WORDS "TRANSMISSION REBUILD", IT GIVES ME THE JITTERS!
