speedo twitch

Check for a speed sensor on the top of the rear diff - a wire connecting to a black plug on the top front of the case. If you have this sensor, jack up the rear end (put it on stands!), remove the diff cover, and inspect the speedo 'ring' - a toothed ring that is bolted to the rear end gear (look for fine toothed gear-like thingie). If this ring is damaged - missing or bent teeth - then there's your problem. Otherwise...can anyone else help this person?

OOPS!!! Forgot...two more things...
Check the wiring to the sensor. Check for continuity and also for resistance in the sensor itself (service manual has resistance value to check for).
The sensor can easily be removed (one bolt), so do this and clean off any metal filings that may be stuck on it (it's a big magnet). Then check for damage to the sensor itself. If it has any holes or cracks, replace the sensor.
Good luck!
