Will AOE40D run w/o ECM

I am switching from efi to a carbed engine. The new engine will bolt up to the automatic overdrive E40D but i don't if it will still shift if the engine electronics are disconnected. Anybody know?

It will not shift.

Without the ECM the E4OD transmission will always be in 4th gear with the torque converter unlocked.
