Question transmission service

need advice .....
2008 F 150 FX4 with 93K miles - my driving is 75% city
last time I flushed the transmission(dealership) was 5 yrs ago with 67K miles.....
should I have it flushed again or drop the pan for the first time and change it that way ?

thanks

If you feel that it needs service, just get the fluid exchanged again - exchange, not flush with chemicals. No need to drop the pan.

It might be worth looking at picking up a mity vac. I have had one for a few years now and have used it on my vehicles and it makes the transmission fluid change and absolute breeze on these trucks.

You just suck the fluid out the dip stick, Then measure what you took out and refill with the funnel through the dipstick. Works awesome

I had previously dropped the pan, actually installed a pan with a drain plug, and replace the filter. This makes changes so easy with the mity vac.

That only gets about 1/3 of the fluid out.

Yes, I know, but it's easy for a diy job and higher frequency. No mess

That's why I suggested an exchange, a shop will do it with a machine.

I've been dropping the pan and changing the filter and refilling with 4 plus quarts every 20k miles. However, the next time I think I will syphon the fluid out through the dipstick tube leaving the pan on. It can be done without a mityvac. Just get the syphon going and let it run.

Exactly, that was why I recommended it. 👍 If you can change it with ease on a frequent basis, you end up ahead in my opinion because you can do it at your leisure, no mess, and you can do it basically whenever the heck you want. I absolutely love my MityVac and it was legitimately 20 minutes or so for me to change the fluid from the pan by sucking out the dipstick and then refill.
