2001 ford f-150 jumps into first gear.
Hi, I have a 2001 ford f-150. I was trying to trace a bad fuse and I pulled out fuse 23 from the engine compartment. After checking it as good, I went to replace it and it dropped into the engine compartment. I planned on replacing it after buying a new one but forgot the next morning when I drove it about 12 miles. The truck ran horribly as the fuse controlled the HEGO Sensor, Canister Vent, Automatic Transmission, CMS Sensor. I managed to get it to a friend's house and back with it running okay except for starting from a stop, where if you didn't really feather the gas it would load up and try to stall. I replaced the fuse the next morning hoping that would solve the problem. It ran better, but when I put in first gear, It stays in neutral a moment, and then jumps into first. Also, the engine rpm runs a little high and I have to wait a second for it to drop, and to really be light on the gas to keep it from jumping. Once I get it going it's good and the trans clutches grab well. I checked the trans fluid, I tried to reset the computer and transmission module and it still jumps into first unless you really baby it on the gas. All other gears and reverse are good. It also starts good in first if it stays in first and doesn't shift up to a higher gear. Otherwise, I get the same jump into gear. Is there anything I missed or is it time to take it to a tranny specialist?
