Trans help?
I have a 2004 ford f-150 fx4, recently I've been getting a delay when putting truck in drive. Reverse always works fine. Changed fluid, filter and a selinoid on outside of trans. It's why I get the code 720 and 722 . I've been dealing with this for over a month now so when I go to work in the morning put truck in reverse, no prob then drive is like neutral until I rev motor and it slams into gear. Once it is in drive it shifts like normal but when slowing down it seems like it doesn't downshift. Come to stop sign then gas it and it's like neutral again until I rev up and it slams in gear again. I'm sure the auto trans was not meant to take many of these gear slams! Please help? Is this a shift selinoid prob or a whole tranny rebuild? My guess (due to my luck) is a f---ing rebuild! Any professional help is soooooo appreciated greatly!!!!

May be irrelevant but I had a similar problem with a 73 Mercury cougar C6 transmission. Starting it up cold, there was a delay going into gear. Transmission shop guy told me the seals were old and not sealing as well and it took longer for the pump to build up pressure. Like I said, it may be totally irrelevant.
There is no solenoid on the outside of the trans. All solenoids are inside the pan.
P0720 says that you have an electrical circuit issue with the Output Speed Sensor (OSS.) It is on the rear portion of the transmission. Most likely it is a damaged wire between the PCM (Powertrain Control Module - the computer) and the OSS. P0720 says that the PCM isn't seeing a signal from that sensor at all.
If you find and fix this issue your trans will probably be fine.
You are right! This is totally irrelevant.
