2005 4.6L 4X2 F150 4R75E trans problems with shifting

2005 F-150 4R75E XLT 4X2 197,000 having issues with the trans, I've replaced the pan gasket and filter with no metal chunks only normal shavings attached to the magnet, I have to put trans all the way down in 1st and after 3 or 4 times reving up the truck to right about 3,500 rpms it will engage the transmission, once I get moving I manually shift up to second and it shifts smoothly. When I got from 2nd to D/OD it shifts smoothly also but if i accelerate with the pedal then it acts like the trans is slipping and acts like it's in neutral. If I use cruise control to speed up the truck after I've shifted into D it acts like there's never been a problem with shifting it'll properly downshift out of OD and back into OD once cruise speed is met. You can press the OD button to where it shows on dash on or off but it doesn't work now. Before these issues it worked just fine. I appreciate all your suggestions and or comments in advance. Interesting. It might be the torque converter or something else.

I'm sure others will chime in.

Also, 2x4? lol... that is those toothpicks you build with.

I think you mean 4x2.

Has the OD OFF light ever blinked? If so, get the OBD2 codes read out with a capable scanner.

Yes it has blinked before. Will read the codes again to see what it says.

ManualF150 thanks for pointing out a mistake you knew what I meant I posted the thread during a 5 minute break at work pardon me for saying 2X4 as you see it is now corrected.

Cheap code readers can't read Ford transmission codes. If the battery has been disconnected since it blinked, the codes have been erased.
