1998 F150 5.4 - is it 2WD or 4WD, and are you sure it has a 4R70W, not a E4OD?

2001 E-350 5.4 - assuming 2WD, are you sure it didn't come with a 4R100?

If they are both 2WD and both came with a 4R70W, they are interchangeable, but with some possible electronic differences. A 4WD transmission will not work in a 2WD vehicle because of different tailshaft housings. A 4R100 computer and wiring harness will not work on a 4R70W. An E4OD might work in place of a 4R100.

I seriously doubt the E350 came with a 4R70W because it isn't heavy duty enough. What is the trans code on the door sticker on the E350?

I would do whatever we needed to do to get it fixed and fixed right because I felt partly responsible
A rare breed indeed.

I will remember this. If I ever require a transmission, you will get the right of first refusal. Your number, will be my first call.

No, it will not. But a 4R100 can work in place of an E4OD.
