Sport mode trans shift

2015 f150 3.5 Eco-boost 6 speed transmission
In sport mode, on a hard acceleration from a stop, foot to the floor. Accelerates through first gear, into 2nd and just before it wants to shift out of second on it's way to third, I take my foot off the accelerator... the Transmission stays in 2nd (engine revving high like I was doing a manual down shift) until the engine RPM's come way down and then it will go to third if I accelerate or first if I brake. Is this normal?

I don't know, but that sounds more like tow/haul mode than sport mode.

Mine does the same. '15 with 5.0. I try to make sure I don't have to lift when I get on the freeway in Sport Mode. While not redlining, it's not great to do this for longevity.

I'm sure if I stop punching that accelerator, all will be fine. (Doctor it hurts when I do this... then don't do that... )

I tried Sport Mode again. This time I noticed the transmission is not shifting past 4th gear... and seems to be engaging the engine braking. I will have to bring it to dealer while it’s still under warranty, just to be sure.

This is a case of RTFM. The sport mode holds shifts for a long time/high rpm. It also has an engine break feature in sport mode.... So, if I would have just accelerated more when i had the initial 'problem' or if I had in fact read the f*&#ing manual....
