Question strange 3-2 downshift?

I've got a 1995 F150, with the E4OD automatic. I've noticed that when I force a downshift to second at about 40 mph, the truck shifts, then accelerates, and the RPMs seem to stay about the same for a while, even maybe drop a little as it accelerates, then they begin to continuously climb. I'm not sure if it does the same after a 1-2 upshift. It only does this for a second. It doesn't seem that its slipping because it still accelerates hard...anybody have any ideas if this is normal or what? I've never owned an automatic transmission vehicle before, my last truck had a 5 speed so this is a little new to me. Thanks a lot

That's the torque converter locking. It's supposed to do that.
