98 4r70W in 97 4.2l
Looking for a little guidance here...I'm trying to install an auto instead of the 5 spd, but I am confused on the electronics.
I know I can change the pin-outs and have the diagram to do so. I am looking for another route. My questions are on the computer side of it. Not having an auto computer to start with I need help with what to get.
When I look for a replacement computer I'm told that the part numbers from resuppliers are all the same (97-99) and the eprom for model years and specifics (VIN) are just uploaded into them. Correct or not correct? Can I just have my ECM flashed for an automatic?
Or will the transmission harness issue be solved with getting a 98 computer and just flash my Vin to it?
What other wiring changes have to be made?
