trans slipping p1744

Hi, first time on here, I have an '06 f150 4.6 2wd, and as i was driving up a mountain round home, I started getting a trans shutter, like on a rumble strip, then a few mins later the od light started flashing, and the chime sounded, and gave me the p1744 code, tcc code, finally 5 mins from home had to stop for a stop light and when i went to go, the truck would rev and wouldn't barely move. I'm about to drop the pan to see whats what in there, but any insights would be appreciated, whether i just need to replace the tcc solenoid or have to drop the trans and change out the torque converter.

Thank you immensely in advance
Jon

Update, pulled the pan, no chunks, but a good bit of particles, fluid was brown and burnt, though it has 150k miles on it, and never been changed (found the yellow plastic plug thing). Would not move under its own power in drive when I tried it a bit ago to get it in the garage. Reverse works a little though.

Yea that's what I figured, $1700 to get it rebuilt, gonna try to find some good vids to see if i think I can do it myself, and try to see what good kits cost, or if the ones from advance auto parts are any good.

I'm in Western NC.
