Driveshaft

Hello,

I have a 2000 f150 4x4 139" wheelbase with the 4.6. Will the driveshaft from a 1997 f150 4x4 139" wheelbase with the 5.4 work with my 2000 or will this not be compatible? Essentially did ford use only one type of driveshaft for 139" wheelbase driveshafts?

Thanks in advance

if both rigs have the same trans, then I would think so.
The 4r70W is smaller than the 4R100 if that is what is in the 1997

You are going to have to measure, but I think not. The above post is accurate in that the 4R70W is a shorter transmission than what was behind the 5.4 in 97. Thus, the 97 driveshaft is almost positively shorter.

Then there were 8.8 and 9.75 rear ends...

Measure it to be sure.
