2014 loses power after shifting into 3rd

So when I do a normal take off from a stop my truck shifts 1st,2nd, then when it hits 3rd gear it continues normal speed increasment for a moment and then bogs down for a second or two then continues increasing speed like nothing happened. I noticed this a little bit when I had my stock exhaust on but after installing my roush exhaust I notice it more because I can hear it bog down. It just doesn't feel right. Anyone else have this problem? Or maybe its something thats a known problem. Maybe it's just me and its normal.

2014 should still be on warranty - have you talked to the dealer about it?

It is under warranty. I havn't taken it in or talked to the dealership yet. I was hoping to get some ideas here on what might be wrong or if anyone else noticed this same thing before I contacted the dealership.

My 13 pulls strong thru the gears... What rear gears do you have? What engine? I've got 3.73's behind an Eco and it just keeps pulling..

Good luck!

Reason I'm suggesting dealer is it sounds like a programming issue. It's supposed to retard the timing or cut the fuel momentarily when it shifts to keep the shifts smooth, but yours sounds like it's out of whack.

That makes alot of sense. It shifts pretty firm into third compared to other gears. So it must be delayed in the timing to where its lowering the fuel after it already shifted. I'll take it in when I have time and see what the outcome is.

Mine pulls the hardest in 3rd? Must be the difference in programming between the 5.0 and the 3.5? I saw your post introducing yourself and you said it's a 5.0..

Yeah, just take it in and give the service guy a ride and demo what's happening and if he says "that's normal", tell him he's full of it!

I'll bet once some other 5.0 owners show up here, they are gonna tell you that not what theirs do..

No, not what mine does at all. Mine pulls hard all the way through.

Once this second of lag gets through the system it pulls just fine.

Like I had mentioned in my begining post I noticed it some but once I threw my exhaust on I could literally hear it bog down for a second in third. That's why I posted here to see what you guys had to say so I knew it wasn't something the dealer could say was "normal" haha. I'll update this after I take it in and see what they have to say about it.

Thanks

Definitely keep us in the loop, Batman32; I'll be here in case you need me to step in and assist. What's the current mileage on your truck?

Not a Ford but my ram does this at about 4000 rpms in 2nd. Never heard it until I put on my intake. Doesn't seem to slow down the acceleration tho. I would think you should look into an update like someone else said.

It's the torque converter locking up. It stays open in 1 and 2 but in third gear will lock up shortly after the shift. This drives RPMs down and feels like a bog. I notice it every shift into 3rd. 6r80 transmission nuance. sadly it's completely normal. A custom tune might be able to remove it and keep it from happening, but otherwise you're stuck with it.

That's what I was thinking, it sounds like the TC locking

Ah alright. Well I take it in Thursday for them to look into it. Hopefully it's actually something that can be fixed and not the just TC locking up like you guys have mentioned.

Why the heck should the TC lock up right after an upshift into 3rd? If acceleration is still being commanded, that makes no sense at all. I know my old 2005 truck doesn't do that.

If it IS, locking up, I'd say there must be a TCM update that could fix this.
