2wd to 4wd swap

Okay, so on my 02 f150 fx4 5.4l the 4r70w tranny went out.
Found a 4r70w outta a 97 f150 4.6l 2wd i know i gotta change the output shaft on it to convert it to a 4wd tranny
Any thing else i would have to do to convert it? Any instructions out there?
Anyway any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

The only two parts you have to change are the output shaft and the extension housing.

The extension housing is easy, it unbolts and you swap it. The output shaft comes out the front of the transmission after you remove EVERYTHING else.

after you remove EVERYTHING else.
In other words - keep looking for a 4wd transmission..........

You don't want a 97 trans in a 02 truck anyway. You need a 99-03 4wd trans for minimum hassles.

Ford has a great reman program, you'd be looking at around $1832.00 after core refund ($600 core) for a Ford trans.

Ford powertrain has a three year, unlimited mileage parts and labor warranty. Best in the business.

I've purchased a lot of parts from www.transtar1.com.
