Howdy all new to the forums

I was given a98 ford 150 4x4 for free told it had transmission problems

So I looked transmission leaks bad
Looked in the peep hole and torque converter inside is dry
All oil looks to be on the back of the transmission
Haven't had a chance to clean it to see the leak

I put in a few litres of ATF and was able to move the truck
Drive didn't work reverse first and second worked
Had to add a few more litres of ATF to move it back

So my question is Likly hood of the tranny being shot
Could it be something simple like a solinod??

I know nothing of transmissions
I am mechanically inclinded so I may consider rebuilding my self

 

Needs a rebuild. It has more than just electronic and seal problems.

Anyone know a good spot in Canada to get the rebuild kit
