Tcase Crossmember Removal
Hello, I am replacing my transfer case on my 1999 Expedition. I am attempting to remove the torsion bar crossmember. (eventually to get to the transfer case) I have removed the torsion bars already, as well as the adjusting keys. I have removed all the bolts on both sides of the crossmember where it is attached to the frame. I have removed the rubber bushings as well as the sheet metal brackets that hold the bushings.
At this point, the crossmember is loose, but I cannot figure out how to remove the crossmember itself. I have tried to slide it all the way to one side, to see if it drops from the other side. No luck, and I cannot lift it high enough because of the exhaust pipe on the passenger side to drop it out from the drivers side. Do I need to remove part of the exhaust to get the crossmember out? Any other things I am missing? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
I gotta get this done, it is the family car.
Thanks again
