94 f150 trans question

On my 94 f150 4.9l, i have 167k on her. my trans pan gasket is going bad and has a very fine leak. My question is, do you guys think it would be safe to drop the pan a replace the gasket without messing up the trans? because i heard after 100k you shouldnt mess the oil. If i could get some help i would be very greatful

Go ahead and fix the pan gasket. I would also change the filter since the pan is off, making sure the old o-ring comes off with the old filter, find the torque convertor
drain and drain it, and refill with all new fluid that is correct for the '94 transmission.
Your transmission will thank you.

That's an urban myth. It isn't true.
