Hello- I need some help. I have a 99 Ford F-150 XLT. The transmission went out in July. I was told it needed a complete rebuild, Got it back on Sept 7th. 2 days later is was slamming gears really hard. I'd come to a stop and then to take off it would slam, the light started blinking, well I had a friend take a look at it, said for a fresh rebuild the transmission fluid looked and smelled burnt. So i took it back they told me it was the valve body, they replaced it. I didn't make it 30 mins away and it started again. Took it back for the 3rd time, the rebuilt the transmission again, i didn't much issues after until today, it seemed like it wasn't want to engage into 4th gear, and then the light started blinking. I called the shop they told me to bring it back. What could be causing this. What are they not doing to solve my issues. Someone help please.

 

What they are not doing is reading the codes that have been stored in the computer's memory. If they don't read the codes and fix what's wrong they can rebuild the trans every day and it won't fix it.

 

I took the truck to the dealer i bought it from today which is a good friends dad, we put it on the machine and it didn't give us any codes, he ran several different tests. I am at witts end. Today the truck ran perfect, but I didn't drive it far.

 

If the OD light is blinking, there WILL be codes - sounds like they aren't using a reader that can read Ford transmission codes.

 

i took the truck back to where the transmission was rebuilt since it was under warranty, he said he replaced the 3 and 4 shifter solenoids, and he fixed the shifter indocator- where it shows that your in drive etc.. its always been a little off, but now lets see how well it drives. Like i said this is the 4th time its been back, and it supposdly had a total rebuild in the begining of sept, so i really don't know. so far we have put 3 torque converters, bands, valve bodies and now new solenoids, whats left to replace?

 

What's left to replace is whatever is causing the problem. If we knew what code was stored in the computer's memory when the OD light flashed then we could help determine what the problem REALLY is. It might not even be something inside the transmission.

 

It's going back again on Monday, as tonight it started slipping and the light started blinking again. It lasted 4 days, starts out strong then starts to slip, and shift really hard and the light blinks but only if we drive a far distance, i will ask what the code is when i take it back
