Slipping in OD

Slipping in OD
Driving home this morning, My transmission started slipping. Its doing this while in OD. I was going up a slight hill gave a little gas and the TC acted like it didn't know if it wanted to unlock or not.
I guess its time to get the tranny replaced or maybe its just the TC?
A question, does anyone know of a good tranny shop in the north metro Atlanta area?

My 06 F150 5.4L 4x4 is doing the same thing now. If I am crusing along at about 50 and go up a slight incline it will down shift real hard and then shift back. It feels alot like a misfire. It only does this when OD is on. Truck has 130k on it. Tranny hasn't been serviced since 50k. Could a fluid/filter change fies this or is it something more serious?

I just bought an 07 Lariat on Sat. Less than 24hr later on Sunday the tranny started shuddering and jumping when in overdrive. Same situation, in overdrive with slight acceleration and low rmp's. Could be the ignition coils or spark plugs. Plugs are prone to breaking off in the block. Read some threads on replacing spark plugs. Both of these items will cause the OD issue.

For what you would pay a dealer to run stress tests on the coils, you can buy a whole set and replace them yourself. A set of Chinese coils on Ebay (10 pack so you have a couple spares) is about 100 bucks. Just one OEM coil is about 50 bucks.
Your only shot to diagnose the coils yourself is if you can get it to miss long enough to trip a CEL.

Glc is right on the coils. I ordered some from ebay tax and all was about 110.00. I am going to replace the plugs and coils this weekend.
RB8720- As far as the 2800 bucks. you should have looked thru the threads on here about the plugs breaking off. There are alot of threads about this. The lisle tool is the only way to go. I know its a little late now but for future reference!
I'll post this weekend on the plug and coil change.

Convertedman,
I was well aware of the plug problem and took every step I could to prevent what happened. I even had the lisle too handy. That's how i got the first 3 out. One the last one too much of the ceramic was left in the plug body for the tool to get a grip. LOL, it was just one of those Sh@t happens moments.

My 2005 is doing the same thing . Kind of a stutter or stumble when in OD and either going up an incline or under slight acceleration. A coworker just bought a 2004 and it started doing it as well.
Hoping that it's something in coils or plugs and not the trans but I'm not getting any codes yet . Should I just wait until some pop up ? Or have any of you determined what was causing the stumble ?

i have a 2004 SCrew Lariat 5.4l. I get a shudder from leaving a stop sign to a semi violent "bumping", almost a slight jerking (3-7 times) when slight acceleration from 45 through 60mph while in OD. Definetly going up hills it "bumps/jerks" until it kicks down or i "gas it". turn off OD and it seems ok. I also have an EDGE Evolution...
I see alot of others having similar issues as i...glad i came to the right place. Now what to do about it.....
Idk if its TorqueC or OD in the Transmission or ......???? going to star with a flush n filter this weekend. Selling it and dont wanna screw next guy over so i want to remedy this first.

Spark plug change: 600$ , tranny fluid and filter change(mercon v) 175$.... jerking/bumping between 55 and 60 miles per hour going up a hill in overdrive- gone! . Thanks Mark and everyones input on this forum! HOWEVER..... I still have the shudder leaving a stop sign or a complete stop. Its actually "shuddering" longer now as I climb speed to about 20mph an then fades away.... UGH! any ideas? Torque converter maybe??

Well, I know I have been lazy about taking care of this. Work schedule has been tough this last 6mo. I broke down today and bought the motorcraft plugs about 30min ago. Going home, having a couple beers to get started and going to do this. It has to be done this weekend do t starting a new project out of town next week. Hopefully, goes well!!
