4r70w grinding problem

specs: 2002 5.4 4r70w 4x4

I was offroading last night and ended up getting in a little to deep, water was just coming into my floorboards luckily the truck only stalled once and i was able to crank it back up and get pulled out within a few minutes or so.

My concern is that I'm hearing a loud grinding/rubbing noise that seems to be coming from the flywheel?

Sounds like sand is rubbing against metal. Also the noise goes away when the truck shifts into fourth gear(overdrive).

The truck cranks just fine and all shifts are the same as before.

Before I spend money on new tranny fluid or take it to a tranny shop id like to get a few opinions on what this could possibly be.

Turns out it was the heat/debris shield, in front of the flywheel, had been bent slightly rubbing against the fly wheel.

I hope bending it back a little will keep the noise from coming back.
