2000 4.2 manual shift

was wondering if their was a way to quite down noise a manual makes when driving in a high gear at a low speed

its a rattle noise almost like rods in a engine but i know its just manual trans noise just would like to quite it down

You could try changing the fluid - it takes ATF. However, it may be a worn input shaft bearing.

Are you at below 1,000 rpms? It will make that noise because that you're in too high of a gear for the speed you're going. Its nothing to do with something being wrong with the truck.
