RPMs drop dramatically

I have a automatic 93 F150 351W with an E40D transmission. When the truck shifts into 3rd gear the RPM's drop to about 1100 (feels like I lost a lot of power) and then when I try to accelerate, the truck jerks a couple times but SLOWLY accelerates. Then other times when it shifts into 3rd, (FYI the RPM's always drop to around 1100 since the problem started) it will REALLY hesitate to accelerate ,with no jerks, and then eventually will start driving normal. I just had another E40D transmission put in about 2 weeks ago because I was having other issues as well as this one with the old tranny. All other tranny problems have been fixed except for this RPM and hesitation thing. Mechaninc who put tranny in thinks it is a vacuum leak but I thought E40D's are electric. Anyway, sometimes the truck jerks in 4th gear as well but there is always hesitation when I try to accelerate in 3rd and 4th gear. If I need to accelerate a little quicker, I always have to drop it down a gear. What could be causing this issue?

the e40d is electronically controlled yes. im not sure either you have bad connections from the ECM/PCM to the transmission.

I know that it had this issue with the other transmission but it was a lot worse than it is with this transmission I just put in.

No one else has any ideas? Over a 100 people viewed this post but can't give any input? Thank you Wyatt for taking the time to at least give me an idea of what could be the problem!

Did you change torque convertors? I think a TPS acting up can effect shifting.Sorry I couldn't be more help.
