I HAVE A F-150 1996 MY problem is when I try to tow my camper
the transmission will not pull on steep grades. It will downshift
from overdrive to drive, drive to 2nd ,and loose all power until it down shifts to low.The truck has a 5.0L engine, a 3.55 gear and the camper weight is 5180# I NEED SOME HELP!

Which engine do you have? Which axle raio? How much does your trailer weigh?

This does not sound like a transmission problem. The computer selects which gear the transmission needs to be in depending on throttle position and vehicle speed. If you have a trailer that is heavier than this truck wants to tow you will have this problem.

Another way this can happen is if the engine is down on power from what it is supposed to be. Things like dirty filters for example can do this.
